Joseph Drouhin is one of the most important wine producers in Burgundy and produces a range of village and regional wines. The grapes for these come from winegrowers in the region as well as from the estate's own vineyards. Domaine Joseph Drouhin produces several Grand Cru wines in the Côte d'Or and in Chablis, including wines from Musigny, Corton-Charlemagne and the Marquis de Laguiche Montrachet Grand Cru, one of the largest shares of the entire Montrachet hill.
It is bursting with wild black cherry, raspberry, tobacco leaf, vanilla, black tea, to name just a few nuances that can be perceived in the glass after just a few minutes.
Grand Cru indeed, with lots of concentration and depth without being bulky, lots of red fruit, silk and velvet, has an aura of its own and demands a next sip, although still extremely juicy when young.
For me personally an insider tip among the Grand Crus due to the enormous drinking flow and the accessibility in the youth.
Of course better in at least 5 years but already extremely good now
It is of course absolutely the opposite of the soft and elegant Musigny, rather robust, powerful and concentrated with its own charm. Goes wonderfully with bœuf bourguignon.
