Château Quintus is a highly regarded Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Château that was acquired by Domaine Clarence Dillon in 2011.
Three wines are produced. Château Quintus' Grand Vin is made from a classic combination of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with some editions containing a touch of Malbec.
Le Dragon de Quintus as the second wine and Saint-Émilion de Quintus as the third wine.
It is the 2014 vintage and at the same time one of my discoveries.
2014 is not one of the best but rather an average vintage, so I am all the more pleased that it has already developed so well and is already drinkable.
Shows a lot of black fruit paired with subtle woody nuances but also a nice balsamic touch as well as dried herbs, a classic from St.Emilion.
On the palate there is so much power and depth, tannins soft and integrated, the finish long and versatile. All in all, a very nice Quintus from an average vintage that is already a lot of fun. The wine has nothing to complain about and if you have any in your cellar I would start enjoying it slowly.
For me personally, this is a wine that I will keep an eye out for.
